After conceding a goal just 42 seconds into the game, the team showed grit and determination, refusing to “cave in” as they had in their previous match against Japan. Sermanni praised the team’s effort and attitude, highlighting their ability to stay in the game despite the early goal. “Given the performance of the last game and the result and then losing the goal after probably less than a minute, I think we could easily have just caved in today,” he noted. The match ended 2-1 in favor of the USA, but the Matilda’s’ improved performance offers optimism for their upcoming fixtures.
