Four Nations Unite to Advance Women’s Sport

In a groundbreaking move, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand have formed the Global Alliance for Female Athletes (GAFA) to enhance female health and performance in sports globally. This alliance brings together leading health practitioners and sports scientists to address prevalent health issues affecting female athletes, such as endometriosis and dysmenorrhea, which often go undiagnosed or inadequately treated due to poor health literacy and misinformation.

The alliance aims to empower and educate female athletes by providing free access to world-leading evidence, performance insights, and best practices. This initiative seeks to close the significant gap in sports science research, which has historically been male-centric, hindering women’s progress in sports. GAFA also aims to eventually include representation from every nation to raise awareness and prioritize female athlete health worldwide.
