Between 1984 and 1990 a select group of SA Women Lacrosse players made up the inaugural South Australian Sports Institute Lacrosse squad. With the future of SA and Australian Lacrosse at the forefront, Peter Koshnitsky had a vision to provide this group with the resources to develop them into elite players and role models.
SASI supported the SA women’s team, providing conditioning programs and facilities plus professional support staff trained in a variety of high-performance fields. This was a further enhancement to SA’s dominance, nationally.
In 1988, The SASI women’s Lacrosse Team embarked on a highly successful tour of the United States, winning all but 1 matches against mostly College teams. The tour was not recognised by the US Women’s Lacrosse Federation due to the helmet issue.
